A native of Ukraine (Odessa), Alexandre KRAVETS received his degree from the Tchaïkovsky Conservatoire of Moscow. In 1992 he emigrated to Germany and has subsequently been granted citizenship.
Alexandre KRAVETS has appeared at many opera houses including the Bavarian State Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Bonn, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Basel, Bologna, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro di San Carlo Napoli, Teatro La Fenice Venice, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Opera de Marseille, Netherlands Opera Amsterdam, Royal Opera de Wallonie as well as at festivals of Bregenz, Schwetzingen, Bergen, Antibes and Chorégies d’Orange.
Alexandre KRAVETS has performed at Teatro Real de Madrid in a new production of LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK (Zinovij and The Drunkhard) as well as at the Teatro di San Carlo Napoli with M.Rostropovitch, at Teatro di Massime in MOISE and AARON (The young man), at the Grand Théâtre de Genève in EUGEN ONEGIN (Monsieur Triquet), LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Don Basilio) , THE QUEEN OF SPADES (Tchekalinsky), FROM THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD (Shapkin and Kedrill).
Other engagements have included THE QUEEN OF SPADES at the Royal Opera House Wallonie, DIE ENTFUTHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL (Pedrillo) , FALSTAFF (Bardolfo) at the Opéra de Nancy, FROM THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD (Kedrill) at Teatro Real de Madrid , ADRIANA LECOUVREUR and the title role in Shostakovitch’s opera THE NOSE (The Policeman) at Théâtre de Lausanne , role which he reprises at the Staatsoper Berlin and at the Fischer Centre in New York staged by F.Zambello , MOZART and SALIERI at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
Among recent stage performances, Alexandre KRAVETS has been heard at the Bregenz Festival in TOSCA, at the Netherlands Opera Amsterdam in THE NOSE, THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN and in LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK, then at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo in MOSES UND AARON , at La Fenice in Venice in DIE ZAUBERFLOTE (Monostatos), at the Antwerpen Opera in KATYA KABANOVA, in Monte Carlo in THE QUEEN OF SPADES (Tchekalinsky).
He made his debuts at the La Scala di Milano in LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK.
Recent and upcoming engagements include performances at the Grand Théâtre de Geneve where he returns for ARIADNE AUF NAXOS (Scaramuccio), and for THE ADVENTURES OF Mr.BRUCEK (Harfoboj, Skladatel, Miroslav). Afterwards he joins the Théâtre de la Monnaie (Brussels) for LA FORZA DEL DESTINO (Trabuco), THE GRAND MACABRE (Piet), LA TRAVIATA (Gastone), ELEKTRA (Eine Junger Diener) . In Monte Carlo he will sing in EUGENE ONEGIN and in SALOME.
Alexandre KRAVETS made his debut at the Opera de la Bastille in his signature role of the Drunkhard in the LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK. He is re-invited for the role of Graf Albert in die TOTE STADT.
Following his numerous success and his reputation of being one of the most talented tenor of character, he has been offered to sing The Drunkhard at Teatro Real de Madrid , The Policeman at the Opéra de Lyon and at the Opéra d'Aix-en-Provence.
Alexandre KRAVETS will take part at the NOSE production (The Policeman) at the Metropolitan Opera of New York .
He recently has been requested to sing the leading part (Sharikov) of a Russian modern opera DOG'S HEART by Alexander Raskatov based on M.Bulgakov's novel which will be premiered in Amsterdam in July 2010.
He can be heard on the recording of THE NOSE with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne under Armin Jordan and on the DVD in the Amsterdam production of LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK .
