Pavel SPORCL, “… the talent of the century” stated the critic after his performance of the Dvorak concerto with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under V.Ashkenazy.
He ranks not only among the foremost representatives of today’s young generation of violinists but also his name figures in the book “Violin Virtuosos : From Paganini to the 21 Century”, by the eminent critic and historian Henry Roth.
Winner of the ARD Competition of Munich, of the Music Session World Tour Competition of Holland, of the International Prague Spring Competition and holder of the Bohumil Martinu Prize, Pavel SPORCL’s versatility across the entire spectrum of the violin repertory is astounding.
Pavel SPORCL took up violon at the age of five, subsequently to study it at the Prague Conservatory and Academy of Music and Arts with the great pedagogue Vaclav Snitil. He then pursued his studies at the Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay and Itzak Perlman.
Highligts of Pavel SPORCL’s current concert season include his debut in Paris at Salle Pleyel with the Orchestre de Paris led by I.Volkov. Other recent debuts include the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre National de Lille, Sinfonia Varsovia, Philharmonic of Gran Canaria and recitals at Auditorium du Louvre, Radio France-Montpellier Festival, Roque d’Anthéron International Festival, Nantes, Orléans, Opéra d’Avignon, Colmar, St.Gallen, Tokyo. He is guest of festivals of Schleswig Holstein, Prague Spring Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, Autumn of Moravia, Salzburg where he made his debuts in 2004.
He recently had to replace Sasha Rozhdestvensky in a concerts tour in Japan playing the Tchaïkovsky Violin Concerto.
This spring, he will perform the Dvorak Violin Concerto in Paris at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with the Orchestre National de France under A.Nelsons, then the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Israël Symphonic Orchestra under A.Talmon, the Korngold Violin Concerto with the Liverpool Royal Orchestra under L.Pesek followed by the Tchaïkovsky Violin Concerto with the Orchestra National de Lorraine under J.Mercier, the Katshaturian Violin Concerto with the Orchestre d’Ile de France.
He collaborates with Berlin Radio Symphonic Orchestra (RSO-Berlin), the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic. P.Altrichter, V.Ashkenazy; J.Belohlavek, L.Pesek, G.Pehlivanian, M.Swierczewski, A.Talmon, I.Volkov, Ch.Wolf are among the conductors with whom Pavel Sporcl has worked. Despite increasing European engagements, Pavel SPROCL continues to work extensively in his native Czech Republic giving many concerts all over the country.
His recordings on Supraphon are on the hits of sales in the Czech Republic. They have received numerous distinctions: Golden Disk, Platinum Disk for the 10.000 disks sold of “Yello-Blue Album”, Harmony Reader’s Magazin Prize for the recording of Paganini works that became the best seller of the classical music in the Czech Republic and was awarded Gold Album. This recording is accompanied by a video directed by one of the most renowned movie producer of the Czech Republic, Juraj Herz.
Pavel SORCL has made other critically acclaimed recordings of the Dvorak Violn Concerto under V.Ashkenazy coupled with the Tchaïkovsky Violin Concerto under J.Belohlavek; the Dvorak and Suk violin pieces ; the Martinu “Czech Rhapsody”; the Janacek Sonata for violin and piano; the O.Sevcic “Blue-eyed Maiden”; the Smetana “My Country”; the Sylvie Bodorova’s Concerto “Dei Fiore”; the J.S.Bach Concerto for Two Violins and Vivaldi “Four Seasons” raved by Gramophone Magazine “An exciting virtuoso confirms his Czech credentials in this superb release. Pavel Sporcl has established himself on disc as the most charismatic of young Czech violinists, spontaneously imaginative and individual in everything he does”.
In addition, Pavel SPORCL much-anticipated recording of Korngold and Strauss Violin Concerti with the Prague Symphony Orchestra under J.Kout was released in August 2009. The Guardian stated : “Pavel Sporcl with the Prague Symphony Orchestra again demonstrates that behind the flamboyant image lies a technical superb musician who definitely deserves attention primarily due to his immaculate musical performance”.
Devoted to contemporary music, Pavel SPORCL has enjoyed close contact with composers such as Sylvie Bodorova, Arvo Part, Jan Meisl, Ondrej Kukal, Lukas Hurnik, Alfred Schnittke, John Corigliano .
Pavel SPROCL extensive repertoire includes 45 violin concertos and countless sonatas, chamber and virtuoso compositions. He strives to bring the message of classical music to the largest circle of listeners and to young audiences.
