Vladimir PETROV distinguished himself by the warmth of his well articulated tone, that is driven by a breath that seems to be inexhaustible, all in a great flexibility of the phrasing. He is in the tradition of the great baritones.
Graduated of the Ekaterinburg Conservatoire of Music (Russia), he made his debuts at the Omsk Opera and has been engaged as the first baritone at the Opera of Minsk (Bielorussia), where he sings the title roles of the russian and italian repertoires.
Vladimir PETROV is laureate of several international contests : 1st prize at the BORIS CHRISTOFF International Contest; 1st prize at the VOICE MASTERS MONTE CARLO; 2nd at the RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Contest at Saint-Petersburg.
Vladimir PETROV makes his debuts at the Opera de Marseilles in the role of the Duke of Nottingham in ROBERT DEVEREUX.
Since then his engagements follow by invitations from the Opera du Rhin where he gives an authoritative performance as Oneguine in EUGENE ONEGUIN staged by Marco A.Marelli, from the Orchestre National de France under N.Järvi in the MISSION DE JONAS of R.Tobias, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées where he returns for the productions of RIENZI (Orsini) and CHRISTUS (Christus) under E.Svetlanov ; by invitations also from the Tel Aviv Opera where he sings Don Pizzaro in FIDELIO and Oneguine in EUGENE ONEGUINE, and from the Budapest Opera in IOLANTA (Ibn-Hakia).
Following his success , he is invited to sing the role of Hary in HARY JANOS from Z.Kodaly with G.Depardieu as narrator at the the Opéra Berlioz-le Corum de Montpellier and the Théâtre du Châtelet. This production was the subject of a DVD recording.
Vladimir PETROV participates at the Festival de Radio France-Montpellier where he sings Simonson in RESURREZIONE from Alfano; at the International Festival of Music of Beth-Shan (Israel); at the International Festival of Manaus (Brazil) where was Figaro BARBIER DE SEVILLE, Germont TRAVIATA, Escamillo CARMEN; at the Festival International de Solothurn (Switzerland) as Amonasro AIDA , Rangoni BORIS GODOUNOV, Don Giovanni DON GIOVANNI and Rodrigo DON CARLOS with Francesco Araiza.
