ROBERT GIERLACH - Baritone-bass
A native of Poland, Robert GIERLACH received his degree from the Academy of Music of Chopin under the instruction of Professor Kazaimierz Pustelak.
He is prize-winner of International Competitions as : Viotti Competition (First Prize) and Alfredo Kraus Contest in at Las Palmas (Public Award).
Robert GIERLACH is a resident soloist at the Opera of Warsaw where he made his operatic debut as Don Basilio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA , Don Giovanni DON GIOVANNI , Don Profondo VIAGGIO A REIMS , Alidoro LA CENERENTOLA , Lodovico OTELLO , Paraoh MOSE IN EGITTO , Creon & Messanger OEDIPUS REX , King Roger KING ROGER .
He has performed in many opera houses throughout Europe including Teatro Scala, Rome Opera, Teatro di Verona, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Royal Albert Hall, Glyndebourne Festival, Amsterdam Opera. In France he has been invited at the Opéra de Nice, Opéra de Marseille, Théâtre des Champs Elysées.
The Grand Théâtre de Genève has produced LE NOZZE DI FIGARO in order to offer him the title role.
Following his performance in KING ROGER at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with the Orchestre National de France , he has been invited to reprise the role at the Carnegie Hall, in Montreal, at the Salzburg Festival with the Orchestra of the City of Birmingham (CBSO) under Simon Rattle and in Tokyo with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra under Charles Dutoit.
Robert GIERLACH's engagements include the Berlin Philharmonic in STABAT MATER by Szymanowski, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in GIULIO CEZARE (Achille), the Florida Grand Opera in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Figaro), the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in OEDIPUS REX with the Orchestre National de France, the Teatro Filarmonico Verona in Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH under Shlomo Minz, the Schelswig-Holstein Festival in HOLOCAUST CANTATA under Sir Y.Menuhin, the Carnegie Hall in Rossini’s STABAT MATER , Tokyo in Haydn’s CREATION with the le NHK under C.Dutoit.
Most recently Robert GIERLACH made his New York City Opera debut as Leporello in DON GIOVANNI and with Teatro alla Scala in Milan as the Count in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and performed Vronsky in the world premiere of ANNA KARENINA with the Florida Grand Opera.
Upcoming, he reprises the role of Figaro in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with the Michigan Opera Theatre and the signature role of Papageno in THE MAGIC FLUTE with the Warsaw National Opera.
In addition to his operatic performances, Robert GIERLACH is an active concert singer.
